Q: Do you know the only thing funnier than me being a TechnoDino🦖 (my teenagers have iPhones, but I don’t)?
A: It’s me providing tech support for my parents when I visited them – and actually fixing their issues!🤣 LOL
My parents and I are Android users. Their new cell phones are nicer than mine – not jealous, I just know that (at least) 70% of the features will never be touched.💯 Seriously, the only reason Mama’s barely used flip phone got replaced was because it was misplaced…go figure (bless her heart)! This is the lady who referred to sending me an email (a decade ago) by saying, “I’m gonna type to you today if I get time, Kayren!”😳 Anyhoo…
Not only did I teach my Mama (#CutieAt74) to send her first text, but I also showed her how to download a photo to her Gallery (AND add it to a Contact – new or existing) and set an alarm for important reminders (like upcoming appointments). We set up a Gmail account so she can subscribe to my YouTube channel, and she took her first cell phone photo!🥳
She even did a video call with me – that was especially funny! She’s still getting used to swiping and touching the screen, but with a bit more use, I have full confidence that she’ll reach proficiency in no time.🤔😏😉
This is a lady who has a lifetime legacy of teaching – a former middle school (translation: combat zone) Teacher of the Year…my Mama is a real life, ol’ school, bona fide educator. She just has to overcome some tech phobias (like many of us at one point or another). But she finally faced some of her techno-apprehensions, and I’m really proud of her for it.💓
Sure, it took a bit of extra patience for this Life Transition Coach to hand-hold my Mama while demonstrating some new technology. However, in comparison to the innumerable times in my 4.5 decades that she’s extended an abundance of grace and patience to me, I’ve gotta say it was more than #WorthItAll. 😊🌻🤗
“Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.
Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.”
