Unwinding the Jumbled Mess

So I heard this sound while folding a batch of towels last night. I ignored it at first, but the faint thumping became more noticeable. I realized it was coming from the dryer. I’d put in a load of whites (towels, sheets, and t-shirts), but it sounded like tennis shoes beating against the sides of a barrel. I finally decided to check it out.

I opened the dryer door. A cloud of steam emerged from the damp laundry and my eyes beheld the most tangled mess I’ve seen come out of a dryer. In the the corners of the fitted bedsheet, multiple towels and t-shirts had gotten lodged in the corners. Ok, I’d seen that before. But I hadn’t seen it twist itself into a monstrous entity of a ball that I could hardly unravel after just/since loading it 20 minutes prior.

It literally took me 5 minutes of exertion to pull the laundry out bit by bit so I could unwind the intertwined towels and t-shirts to dislodge them from the corners of that fitted bedsheet. After all that hassle, I decided to dry the fitted sheet by itself once everything else was finished.

Sometimes our lives feel like a jumbled up mess, don’t they?

<or am I the only one? side eye…LOL>

Unprocessed thoughts accumulate and begin to collide (like bumper cars) thanks to information overload and a sneaking suspicion that somebody pushed a fast-forward button on our schedule. <looking at YOU with a semi-scowl, Daylight Saving Time👀>

Whether the mess is our own doing, caught us unawares, was inherited, or forced upon us doesn’t matter…a mess is still a mess – and who wants to live in that?! Exactly.

Thanks be to God for the One Who can unravel even the most complicated stuff that entangled us. We have HELP – and I am SO grateful that we don’t have to do it by ourselves!🙌🏽

“Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”

(Romans 8:26)

P.S. At the end, it was worth wading through the tangle to unload those crisp, dry white clothes and enjoy the heat as I folded them! #SimplePleasures #EXTRAordinary

“And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
