Reporting for Duty

Do it now, don't delay

When God nudges, do you respond?

And if so, when?

I’m working on shortening my response time. I used to pretend I didn’t hear Him. Ridiculous – I know.

That escalated to pretending that it would be OK as long as I obeyed…LATER.

Do we see a theme here? Pretending and NOT walking in truth, but delusion.

I’m mature enough to know now that delayed obedience = DISOBEDIENCE.

And being on the opposite side of God is super UNcool. So I’m not doing that anymore.

Even if it means getting up the first time He nudges me at 4am. (full disclosure: I’m a natural night owl and NOT a morning person – even after being married to a morning person for over 2 decades).

God really doesn’t care about our comfort zones when it comes to obeying His instructions. So let’s goooooo…it’s time!

Blessings, Kayren

“22 And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king.”

Nevertheless…

Season created by prayer

Recalculating! Just like the GPS says when we take an unprescribed route… 🧭

We read in earlier verses of Psalm 106 how God’s people veered from His intended path. Yet, He responded with a “nevertheless.”

And in spite of all the “stuff” that makes up your life story (and trust me, we’ve ALL got STUFF!), God still has a “nevertheless” for you.

I dare you to allow God’s “nevertheless” to carry you from the place of praise into the wondrous awe of worship in His presence. 👑

Let’s press on to see what the end will be – it is indeed glorious when we walk in obedience to His will and His way!🌟

Blessings, Kayren

“8 Nevertheless he saved them for his name’s sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.

44 Nevertheless he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry:

45 And he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercies.

46 He made them also to be pitied of all those that carried them captives.

47 Save us, O Lord our God, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks unto thy holy name, and to triumph in thy praise.

48 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting: and let all the people say, Amen. Praise ye the Lord.”

What Have I Done?

9-1-1 Emergency

What is MY part in the circumstances and consequences?

When we honestly and objectively evaluate where we are, we realize and admit that our hands aren’t as clean as we’d like to believe. 🤔

Read today’s passage and allow God to speak to your heart about areas that could use some cleansing.

Deliverance is available through Jesus.🙏🏽 #Grateful

He is closer than you think. Draw nigh.

Blessings, Kayren

“34 They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the Lord commanded them:

35 But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works.

36 And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them.

37 Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,

38 And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.

39 Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions.

40 Therefore was the wrath of the Lord kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance.

41 And he gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them.

42 Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand.

43 Many times did he deliver them; but they provoked him with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity.”

Don’t Forget!

The Transformed Mind

Take an honest assessment of your current position.

Not where you wanna be, but where you are. Right now. At this precise moment in time.

If you’re out of alignment with God’s will, repent and make the adjustment to turn around and walk according to HIS righteousness. I’m grateful that U-turns are allowed – and even encouraged!

Because we have no righteousness of our own.💯

It’s easy to forget the amazing work He’s done for us. ✝️ #HolyWeek

Sincere gratitude to a merciful and loving God is expressed through true worship.

Let’s not forget!

👉🏽p.s. If you’d like to join me for worship today at 10am ET (via livestream or in person if you’re in the Charlotte, NC area), you are welcome! I’ll be singing🎵 and my hubby is preaching…I’ve peeped the message and it’s a timely one…🙌🏽

Blessings, Kayren

“13 They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel:

21 They forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt;

22 Wondrous works in the land of Ham, and terrible things by the Red sea.

23 Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.

24 Yea, they despised the pleasant land, they believed not his word:

25 But murmured in their tents, and hearkened not unto the voice of the Lord.

26 Therefore he lifted up his hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness:

27 To overthrow their seed also among the nations, and to scatter them in the lands.”

About Those Haters

I choose therapy

“Vengeance is mine, saith the Lord…” We’ve heard this scripture, but it’s important to take it in context of the entire verse AND the surrounding verses:

“17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.

18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.

21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.”

(Romans 12:17-21)

Admit it: We like it when those who persecute us “get it.” 💪🏽

We may not cheer and throw confetti…but we’re not shedding any tears, either. IJS.😯

But it doesn’t feel so great when the the shoe is on the other foot. Cuz sometimes WE ARE THE HATERS.🤯 <gasp!>

Then, we’re grateful for the merciful side of our just, righteous, and holy God.

Just a check-in to make sure we’re on the Lord’s side today…because He will repay!

Blessings, Kayren

“10 And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.

11 And the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left.

12 Then believed they his words; they sang his praise.”

Provoking God

Take the meds

provoke (verb) – to be bitter; to rebel or resist; to disobey; to be contentious (H4784)

People test us and try our patience all the time. <moment of silence…and Amen.> 🙏🏽

And yet, we provoke God.

It wasn’t just “the folk in the Bible days.”

We – as the beings God created for unbroken fellowship with Him and to bring Him glory – do the same thing.

Why would we even?!?! 🫣

👉🏽Read today’s passage (slowly, with emphasis, and out loud in front of a mirror if you’re super-brave).

Let’s quit the foolishness. It’s time out for nonsense.⏳️

It’s time to be about our Father’s business of living and loving. I’m sure you agree that there’s more than a-plenty work to be done!

Blessings, Kayren

“6 We have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly.

7 Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies; but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea.

8 Nevertheless he saved them for his name’s sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.

9 He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness.

10 And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.

11 And the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left.

12 Then believed they his words; they sang his praise.”

Second Guessing

Because or FOR a cause

I made a couple of subtle tweaks on my blog…whatcha think?

This isn’t about people-pleasing. I’m learning about how I process multiple options (there were a lotta colors to choose from – ooh, pretty! I mean A LOT! LOL).

Sometimes I get stuck in analysis paralysis. Maybe you can relate?

I’m learning to just go with the choice I’ve selected if it’s not gonna have an earth-shattering consequence one way or another – for the sake of progress – instead of going back and undoing something…and then undoing it.

Am I the only one? I know I’m not! LOL <I see you…>

You’re welcome to drop a comment to share helpful tips you use to make a quality decision – and move forward from it…or if you can spot what I tweaked!

Blessings, Kayren

“5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.

8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.”

(Proverbs 3:5-8)

On Waiting and Resilience

Get it done

I’m cringily recalling my recent DMV visit. ‘Nuff said.

Long line. At every location. No appointments available online – throughout the entire state.

Seriously? THIS is what we’re doing? Okay…

After getting out of long lines (or avoiding them completely) at visits during previous weeks, the rubber met the proverbial road and I had to wait in a line winding out the door and around the corner – along with everybody else trying to beat a deadline.

Three. Hour. Wait.

Outside. Sweating. Standing 97% of the time. Ugh!

I concluded that THIS very experience had to be on the spectrum of being identified with Christ’s suffering. It was a very fitting experience for #HolyWeek.

Thankfully, I survived (and God’s mercy was at work on my behalf as I made it in the door JUST before the cutoff of “the last 4 people” were taken for the day).

And my character was developed.

So was my patience. That muscle I thought had made such progress…alas, it seems there’s more room for progress!

Drop a comment if you have tips for waiting patiently…I’m all ears!

Blessings, Kayren

“5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.”

Return to Sender

Cleanse, forgive, heal

Individually-fitted tests just don’t work that way where you push ’em back across the table to God.

Saying, “No, thank You – I don’t care to have any of that challenge/trial/circumstance today, Lord,” doesn’t work.

Trust me, I’ve tried. I promise that it doesn’t work. 😄

Ah, the lessons we have yet to learn along this journey called life!

May we be mindful students who can pass the test, and in turn, share what we’ve learned with others. #GiftOfWisdom

After all, tests come to strengthen and establish us. #PurposeForPressure

Blessings, Kayren

“10 After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace [who imparts His blessing and favor], who called you to His own eternal glory in Christ, will Himself complete, confirm, strengthen, and establish you [making you what you ought to be].
11 To Him be dominion (power, authority, sovereignty) forever and ever. Amen.”

Redacted

Adulting involves taking responsibility

redact (verb) – to edit text for publication;
to censor or obscure (part of a text) for legal or security purposes

Honestly, the term “redacted” kinda freaked me out. Even after asking a colleague, I didn’t fully comprehend what it meant until I looked it up.

Then I began to understand how the blood of Jesus covers my sin so that it’s no longer seen by other parties.

It may historically be part of the document (my past) – but it cannot be seen.

And in that case, it cannot be held against me. Hallelujah – what GOOD NEWS!

Now to apply this same concept when forgiving others…we have our work cut out for us, don’t we?

But we have a Helper with power, so we’re not alone as we walk this journey. MORE good news!

Blessings, Kayren

“Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.”

(Psalm 51:9)

“Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, thou hast covered all their sin. Selah.”
