Face Doesn’t Match

Seasons change...do YOU?

Have you become unrecognizable as a new creature in Christ?🦋

You know how the smartphone lockscreen has the facial recognition feature?

Well, mine recently said, “Face doesn’t match” – like who else is gonna be logging into my phone but me? 👀😬😘😵‍💫 (don’t get me started on hackers…#Rude&Inconsiderate😡)

But it reminded me how we’re new creatures in Christ – old things are passed away.

So maybe that face shouldn’t match anymore after all…#NewIdentity

Blessings as we learn who we REALLY are in Christ,
Kayren

Support Embedded

Sow seed

We all like to know that somebody has our back.

May we extend support for someone else today. We never know when we’ll need the same grace extended to us.

Plant seed before you’re hungry…

Razor-Thin Margin

It's okay to take a break and rest

Running on fumes? Quit it…

Why do we do this to ourselves?

Time to replenish mind, body, and soul isn’t just a “nice to have.”

It is a necessity. A vital requirement.

Let’s make the adjustment.

Just sharing in love as I’m learning to do different and do better…

Blessings, Kayren

“Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.”

(Jeremiah 6:16)

“The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.”

Get the Tiramisu

Self-care is NOT selfish

It was the best ending to a delightful lunch. Honestly, it was rather epic – and I don’t throw that term around lightly.

I’d looked forward to visiting my favorite local Thai restaurant since I scheduled my day off. #MoreHearts

The red curry with shrimp, egg rolls, and egg drop soup were the “tummy hug” I needed after a grueling workweek.

Sure, I could’ve skipped the sweet treat and been satisfied with my lovely and satisfying meal. But I really like tiramisu, and my server said this tiramiau was exquisite.

He didn’t oversell it.😋

The tiramisu was all that, a bag of chips, the crumbs in the bottom of the bag, and then some.💯

After my first bite, I was transported to a spiritual experience.😇 Halfway through, I was boxing it up to finish this delicacy at home in my PJs and fuzzy socks.

Because a dessert like this deserved an audience of one.😜😆

I encourage you to schedule a day to breathe. Soon.

Don’t put it off for weeks. Seriously.

Your body, mind, soul, and spirit will thank you.

Blessings, Kayren

“31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

(Matthew 6:31-33)

The Leadership Lesson

In process and in progress
Learning when your tests & trials aren’t just for you…

The tempering. Pulverization. Incessant pressure. Repetitive knocks. All leading to and culminating in ultimate restoration.

I hadn’t thought about the challenges of my current season as being part of leadership training. Until now.

But it all makes sense.

The greatest among us must serve.

And a true servant leader has a tender heart after experiencing what they walk others through – because they’re already familiar with the path.

They know the sting of rejection. The frustration of being misunderstood. The loneliness of isolation. The two-sided coin of forgiveness and redemption.

And they don’t despise any part of the lesson, because they understand that it’s all part of the process of being made.

May we continue to endure each lesson until we become leaders who accurately reflect the image of our primary example of selfless servant leadership – Jesus Christ.

In progress & in process, Kayren

“24 And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest.

25 And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors.

26 But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve.

27 For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth.”

(Luke 22:24-27)

What Do You SEE?

I was so excited to see this single rose blooming in my yard this week (yes, it’s Autumn) that I squealed with glee!

On many occasions, the rosebush looks dry, dormant, and DEAD. Yet, the roses that emerge (on on their own schedule, might I add) never cease to amaze me. This rosebush has survived a summer of sustained, sweltering Southern heat. It has prevailed through hurricane force winds and soaking torrents.

Nevertheless, it continues to bloom and flourish – in spite of its environment and circumstances. As a matter of fact, this natural work of artistic wonder is surrounded by dead-looking, withered blooms and spiky thorns.

In its appointed time, each rose that is embedded in the DNA of that rosebush comes forth as the beautiful creation it was intended and designed to be.

What do YOU see? Perhaps there’s a hidden rose just waiting to be discovered, cultivated, nurtured, appreciated…around you, or even in you…

It’s a matter of perspective…and patience.⏳ Open your eyes 👀 and bloom on, my friend!🌹

“36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”

Unwrap the Gift of YOU!

Have you ever received a really nice gift and thought, “I’ll save this for a special occasion,” or “I’ll wear it for a fancy celebration,” or “I’ll use it when the time is right” – and before you know it, you’ve forgotten that you even had the gift? Then a few months later, when you’re walking around with a raggedy high-heeled shoe shooting off sparks behind you or wearing a torn item of clothing, you remember, “Hey – I’ve got a great new pair of shoes and a new outfit nestled in the back of my closet! Why am I going out looking crazy?” Well, that’s happened to me more times than I care to admit! I knew the giver must’ve spent a pretty penny (or at least some time and energy) getting me the “just right” gift and looking forward to me making good use of it…only to find that I tucked it away and failed to maximize the gift’s capacity.

Years ago, I became more mindful of this principle after my home was broken into. Thankfully, no one in my family was harmed (we weren’t at home when it happened), but some valuable items were taken. Sadly, I must admit those stolen items included one set of jewelry that I wore so seldom (though it was given to me for a significant milestone) that my husband realized it was missing before I did. He GAVE it to me, but I didn’t even realize it was gone.

How many times have we been in that situation with valuable gifts God has given us? Additionally, how many of us don’t realize that we are gifts that He has given to be a blessing to others? II Corinthians 4:7 reminds us that we have treasure (something of great worth) in earthen vessels. It’s time to unwrap the gift of YOU! No matter what your container looks like, the product inside is precious to God!

“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.”

(II Corinthians 4:7)

Nailed It!!! 💅🏾🦋

I’m looking at this lovely butterfly all the time…so mesmerizing!
Kourtney’s nail genius on display!

After a few short months of being her client, I am certain that Kourtney KNOWS me – and this helps her deliver a prime customer service experience every time.

You KNOW your nail tech is a keeper when she:

  1. Guides you to a color combo that eases you into the neon you’ve been hesitant to try for 3 seasons but it still works in a professional corporate setting 🤓
  2. Deciphers your ambiguous ask for “blingalicious” 💎 and pulls it off without using your prime obsession: gold glitter topcoat
  3. Understands that your indecision between fill-in vs. gel polish vs. complete soak-off (so you can ambitiously do your own nails😯 with cheap polish from the drugstore😳…which will never happen because it takes more time than it’s worth and you get more product on your skin than on your nails🥴) is pure foolishness…and lets you run with that circular reasoning until you remember that your nail appointment is a valuable investment🎯 in your self-care and mental well-being 🥳 #SelfCareIsNOTselfish
  4. Patiently waits 🤐 until you realize (on your own) that you’re aggravated because you need the fill-in and cut-down within 3 weeks instead of trying to stretch it to 4 weeks (or beyond…#Guilty)
  5. Incorporates your child’s college colors (#AggiePride💙💛), your love of stickers, AND your business logo for transition, renewal, and rebirth in one fell swoop 🦋
  6. AND you BOTH laugh and cry🤣 in the same appointment because it’s a sistah chat, venting session, and therapy all rolled into one

At least that’s how it was for me! I left her chair with a song in my heart, ready to face the world again…with super-fabulous nails!

Thank you, Kourtney!💓🤗 Follow her on IG @huesovhazel to be dazzled by her creativity and artistry…

I hope you find great service that brings you similar nail joy…or book with Kourtney if you’re in the area – just don’t take MY appointment time, PLEEEEZE!😊😉

“…but by love serve one another.”

1Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

(Hebrews 12:1-2)
