When we get off the people-pleasing treadmill, we wonder how we used to commit to “underpromise and overdeliver” the ridiculous stuff that wasn’t initially on our plates.
It took me a while, but I finally got there – and I have faith that you can, too!
I am incredulous with relief now that I continue to say YES to me FIRST…because my first priority is to please GOD and not man!

“4 Let them now that fear the Lord say, that his mercy endureth for ever.
5 I called upon the Lord in distress: the Lord answered me, and set me in a large place.
6 The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?
7 The Lord taketh my part with them that help me: therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me.
8 It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.
9 It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes.”

Its all about prioritizing what matters most to you in your life! In all of our time of taking care of others we have to be mindful of taking care of ourselves! If we don’t take care of ourselves, mind, spirit, body, and heart, how else can we take care of others if we are run down and burnt out with no energy and nothing to give to others? Part of our self-care regiment is first spending time with Jesus and then learning to say no to some things and yes to others. It’s okay to say no! If you spend time with Jesus he will show you what to say no and yes to!

Amen, sis – I’m a witness! Self-care is NOT selfish! It is good spiritual stewardship over the treasure He has placed in our earthen vessels…
